Operating in 'TP6310Mode' - For TPM System Configurations
with STM-1/OC-3 (future)
For TPM + STM-1/OC-3 (future) system configurations, each board is synchronized at
the board level, recovering the clock from STM-1/SDH or OC-3/SONET interface. In
case of failure of the active clock reference, and the APS is enabled, the clock
reference is switched to the new active STM-1/SDH or OC-3/SONET interface
together with the traffic switch. Alternatively, if the Automatic Protection Switching is
disabled, the board clock is switched to holdover clock.
To configure the synchronization clock in the EMS for TPM + STM-
1/OC-3 system configuration, take these 4 steps:
1.
Enter the Clock frame of the gateway and select the clock synchronization mode
TPTPM.
2.
When the clock quality of the PSTN links is the same, configure the TPM clock
reference arbitrarily.
3.
When the links have different clock qualities, to synchronize all STM-1/OC-3
links, select the highest quality PSTN link.
4.
The default TPM clock reference is configured at the Gateway level. However,
the clock reference can also be configured at the Board level. To configure the
clock reference at the board level in the EMS, select a board and in its board
parameters provisioning screen, set the Non Mode Clock Source.
In the EMS, in a board's Clock Parameters Provisioning screen, the Clock Reference
Configurations parameter displays at which level (Gateway or Board) the Clock
Synchronization mode is set.

Operating in "TP6310Mode' - For TPM + T3 System
Configurations
When working with T3 interfaces, each board is synchronized at the board level,
recovering the clock from one of its multiplexed active DS1 trunks. The most qualified
clock references should appear on the lowest trunk numbers on the multiplexed trunk
stream.
starts looking for the next clock reference. The search starts from the first DS1 trunk,
continuing on to the last one. Therefore, the most qualified clock references should
appear on the lowest trunk number of the multiplexed trunk stream.
To configure the synchronization clock in the EMS for TPM + T3
system configuration, take this step:
Enter the Clock frame of the gateway and set the clock Synchronization mode to
TPTPM.
For both T3 and STM-1/OC-3 system configurations, you can select the Internal clock
reference. This way, each TPM is synchronized from the internal clock, instead of from
the clock from the lines. This mode is recommended for test purposes only.
If the clock reference fails, the Avaya G860 Media Gateway automatically
