PPPoA Bridged Mode (RFC2364)

If your service provider is using PPPoA (Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM) as a
transport protocol but you do not want the modem to act as a router with a
separate network address for computers on the internal network, select the
"PPPoA Bridged" option below the "CONFIG" Menu. Your individual PC(s) or
devices requiring an IP address will have to be given routable (not private) IP
addresses from your service provider, either dynamically or statically.
Your service provider will also inform you of the VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) and
VCI (Virtual Channel Identifier) values. The VPI value can range from 0 to 4095
and the VCI value can range from 1 to 65535.
The authentication settings will come from your service provider. Click on either
No authentication, PAP, or CHAP for authentication type and then enter your
User ID and Password if using PAP or CHAP.
The final step to set up "PPPoA Bridged" mode is to select the LLC Header mode,
which will have to come from your service provider.
The screenshot below displays an example of "PPPoA Bridged" mode setup for a
service provider using CHAP authentication and that has assigned a User ID of
Hinet10 with a four-character password. The VPI has been configured for 0 and
VCI for 35 with a LLC Header mode set to "off" for the Data Encapsulation
method.
