4. Follow the on-screen messages, and print a nozzle check
pattern. See page 8-37 to see a sample of the nozzle check
pattern.
If any segments in the pattern are missing from the test lines,
you need to clean the print heads and print the nozzle
check pattern again. Go to step 5.
If the check pattern prints correctly, you do not need to clean
the print heads. Click Cancel, and see "Printing quality"
on page 8-26 if a problem exists.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to clean the print heads.
While the printer performs the cleaning cycle, the Pause light
flashes.

Caution:
Never turn off the printer while Pause light is flashing.
Doing so may damage the printer.
After finishing the cleaning, click the confirmation button in
the Head Cleaning dialog box, or print a few lines to
confirm that the heads are clean and to reset the cleaning
cycle.
6. If print quality hasn't improved after repeating steps 4 and 5
up to five times, try other recommendations listed in
"Printing quality" on page 8-26. If print quality still has not
improved, contact your dealer.
