The printer driver's Ink
setting is set to Color even
though the printer is being
used with an empty color ink
cartridge installed.
For DOS users:
The print direction setting is
set to bidirectional (Bi-D) in
the default-setting mode.
The printed image is smeared.
Cause
The paper you loaded is too
thick.
Special paper was loaded
without the support sheet or
a regular sheet of paper
under it. Glossy film, glossy
paper, and transparencies
should be loaded with the
support sheet or a piece of
plain paper under them.
Multiple sheets of EPSON
Photo Quality Glossy Film
are loaded.
Select Black as the Ink setting in your
printer driver. See "Printing with an
empty color ink cartridge" on page
7-5.
Replace the color ink cartridge.
Set the print direction to unidirectional
(Uni-D) in the default-setting mode.
To enter the default-setting mode, see
"Changing the default settings" on
page 6-10.
What to do
Set the adjust lever to the "+" position.
See Chapter 5, "Paper Handling."
Load the support sheet or a piece of
plain paper under the special paper.
See Chapter 5, "Paper Handling," or
the instructions packed with your
paper.
If you need to load multiple sheets of
glossy film, load up to 30 sheets and
do not load paper above the red line
on the right edge guide.
