The printer driver settings are
not correct.
High Speed mode is selected
in the printer driver.
For DOS users:
The print direction setting is
set to bidirectional Bi-D in the
default-setting mode.
Colors are different than you expect.
Cause
The color print head nozzles
are clogged.
Black ink is selected in your
printer driver.
You are not printing on the
correct side of the paper.
The Media Type setting does
not match the loaded paper.

Troubleshooting
Check the printer driver settings to
make sure they are appropriate. If
these settings are correct, check your
application because some driver
settings are overridden by application
settings. For more information on
making driver settings, see Chapter 3
for Windows, or Chapter 4 for
Macintosh.
To obtain higher quality output, make
sure High Speed mode is not selected.
To obtain higher quality output, set
the print direction to unidirectional
(Uni-D) in the default-setting mode as
described in "Changing the default
settings" on page 6-10.
What to do
Clean the color print heads as
described in "Cleaning the Print
Heads" on page 8-36.
Set the Ink setting to Color.
Check the paper packaging for the
correct side for printing; then load the
printable side of the paper face down
in the sheet feeder. When using the
manual feed slot or tractor feeder, load
paper printable side up.
Change the Media Type setting in your
printer driver to match the type of
media you have loaded.
