5-10 Installing the Operating System

UPDATING THE SYSTEM

Use NEC EXPRESSBUILDER DVD that comes with your CPU blade to update the system. Refer
to the User's Guide of CPU blade for details.
Execute "Updating the System" in following cases.
CPU is expanded (changed from single processor to multi-processor).
Performed setup again.
Modified system configuration (installed/removed internal option devices).
Recovered the system using recovery process.
Restored the system using the backup tool.

MAKING BACKUP COPIES OF SYSTEM INFORMATION

It is recommended to make a backup copy of the system information using the NEC
EXPRESSBUILDER DVD that comes with your CPU Blade, after completing the system setup.
Without the backup data, you will be unable to restore the configuration data and specific
information for the system. You can save the information by the following process.
1.
Prepare one 3.5-inch floppy disk.
2.
Connect the external floppy disk drive to the Blade Enclosure according to the User's
Guide of Blade Enclosure. Or, connect the external floppy disk drive to K410-150(00)
SUV cable.
3.
Insert the "NEC EXPRESSBUILDER" DVD into the optical disk drive of the CPU Blade
and reboot the system.
For the subsequent steps, refer to the manual of your CPU Blade to make a backup copy
of the system information by using the System Information Management feature of
Maintenance Tools.
