INSPECTION PROCEDURE 31
Power steering fluid pressure switch system
The power steering fluid pressure switch sends a signal to the engine-ECU <M/T>
or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> according to power steering load.
Based on this signal, the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> controls the
throttlecontrolservosothatidlespeedincreaseswhen thepower steeringis inoperation.
Check the power steering fluid pressure switch. (Refer to GROUP
37A - On-vehicle Service.)
Measure at power steering fluid pressure switch connector B-76.
D Disconnect the connector, and measure at the harness side.
D Voltage between terminal 1 and earth
(Ignition switch: ON)
OK: System voltage
Check the following connector: B-76
OK
Check trouble symptom.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE 32
A/C switch and A/C relay system
If the engine-ECU receives a 'A/C on' signal, it operates the throttle control servo
and A/C compressor magnetic clutch so that idle speed increases.
Service the A/C compressor relay. (Refer to GROUP 55 - On-ve-
hicle Service.)
Measureat engine-ECU connectors C-163, C-165 <M/T> orengine-
A/T-ECU connectors C-175, C-177 <A/T>.
D Disconnect the connector, and measure at the harness side.
D Voltage between terminals 20, 83 and earth
(Ignition switch: ON)
OK: 0 - 3 V
(A/C switch: OFF)
System voltage
(A/C switch: ON)
D Connect terminal 20 to earth.
(Ignition switch: ON, A/C switch: ON)
OK: A/C compressor clutch turns on.
Check the A/C system. (Refer to GROUP 55 - On-vehicle Service.)

D Malfunction of the engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>

Check the following connectors: C-164 <M/T>, C-176 <A/T>

Check trouble symptom.
Check the harness wire between the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-
A/T-ECU <A/T> and power steering fluid pressure switch.
OK
NG
Replace the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>.

D Malfunction of the A/C control system
D Malfunction of the A/C switch
D Open circuit or short-circuited harness wire in the A/C
switch circuit, or poor connector contact
D Malfunction of the engine-ECU <M/T>
D Malfunction of the engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>

C-163, C-165 <M/T>, C-175, C-177 <A/T>
