Conventions

This guide uses the following conventions to indicate the
action you need to take:
[ ] means press 1 on the dial pad.

[ ] means dial the MERLIN MAIL system
MERMAIL
extension number.
[ ] means dial the appropriate extension number.
Ext.
[ ] means press the pound button. (This is frequently used
#
as a termination character, so that the MERLIN MAIL
system knows when you have entered an entire extension
number or password.)
[ ] means dial the Mailbox number (which is usually
Mailbox
the same as the extension number) of a subscriber.
[ ] means press the star button.
