HP LaserJet 9055mfp or 9065mfp.
Authentication is a security feature that can be turned on or off for
each MFP that the HP DSS Workflow supports. When authentication
is on, users must type a user name and password to use selected
digital-sending options.
The HP Digital Sending Software v 3.0 Secure Access or
Communications is used to enable authentication.

What is authentication?

The authentication process requires users to type a user identification
(ID) and a password before using any of the HP MFP DSS Workflow
Menu keys, and then validates the information against the network
domain controller server.

What is required?

The HP Digital Sending Software v 3.0 Secure Access or
Communications product must be installed and configured in order to
implement secured MFP workflow menus.

What does authentication provide?

Authentication provides user-level authentication with an external
operating system. For more information about HP DSS
Authentication, see the HP Digital Sending Software v 3.0 Secure
Access or Communications Guide or go to the HP support website.

How is authentication activated?

Authentication is automatically enabled when the administrator
enables security for e-mail on the MFP. The HP DSS Workflow
detects the HP Digital Sending Software Secure Access or
Communications authentication settings and, if security is enabled,
the user is prompted to type a user ID and password. The user's
credentials are then communicated to the authentication server. The
user can gain access to the MFP menus only when a final
authentication confirmation is received.
