In the following example, we have created a Simple-6 schedule that creates six backup sets. We do not
wish to copy the daily backups but we wish to copy the weekly and monthly backups. We will create
a single copy set for each backup set. The copy will start 2 minutes after the associated backup has
completed and will be to an attached tape drive. Encryption and barcode filter settings are inherited
from the backup job, but hardware compression is enabled because we are writing to a tape drive that
supports this feature.
Figure 92 Copy Policy Summary
If a rotation is not defined, the Assign policy section will only show one instance of the backup job; all the
media created when the backup job is run will be copied, if the copy policy is assigned to this instance.
It is still possible to define the number of copy sets.
Running a Copy Job and the Resulting Folder Structure
An automatic copy job can only be created as part of a backup job. The Copy policy settings belong to
the properties of the backup job. In normal operation, the copy job runs automatically, as specified, after
the backup has completed.
As with all jobs you can review how the copy policy is progressing by looking at the backup jobs Log
page. There is a Copy Policy section.
