confidence threshold—A numerical value built into the
TextBridge Pro OCR engine. During recognition, TextBridge Pro
assigns a confidence number, based on a number of factors, to
each recognized word. If the assigned number falls below the
confidence threshold, the word is flagged as a questionable, or
suspect, word. If the number rises above the confidence
threshold, then TextBridge Pro releases the word as correctly
recognized and bases future recognition decisions on correctly
recognized words.
conversion—A part of the document recognition process that
takes text in one format (the input format) and processes it to
another format (the output format). In TextBridge Pro,
recognized text in an internal format can be converted to, say,
WordPerfect (or any of a number of other supported formats). The
file that is created as a result of conversion is the output
document.
custom dictionary—A text file that can be loaded into
TextBridge Pro to improve recognition of words not typically
found in a standard dictionary. You can create custom
dictionaries that contain specialized terminology; then, when
processing a document containing such specialized terminology,
you can load the custom dictionary to improve recognition.
D
dialog box— A window that contains a message requesting more
information from you. TextBridge Pro displays a main dialog box
from which you can define and initiate OCR jobs.
E
extension—See Chooser extension.
