With the stemming feature in the Search Tool, for the previous
example, you could simply type:
Scan
This would find documents that contained any variation of this
word, such as "scanning", "scanner", "scanners", "scans",
"scanned", and so on.
If you wanted to limit the search to just the search term itself
(disabling stemming), use the single quote. For example:
'Scan'
To broaden the search, you can use the comma ( , ) as a separator.
For example, if you wanted to search for documents that
contained information about any computer device, you could type:
hard disk, scanner, printer, fax modem, CD-ROM
Another tool to use in search strings are wild-card operators:
*
?
For example:
pag*
matches all words with the prefix "pag", such as "page", "paging",
"pagination", "Pagis", and so on.
pag?
matches only words that start with "pag" followed by only one
character, thus matching "page".
Concept (Boolean) searches
Using a concept (Boolean) search string, you can define more
specific searches.
