Select Letter if you are scanning a simple black and white
document (letter, memo, or report for example). Scanning is
faster and the file will take up little space.
Select Magazine Article if your document has both text and
pictures. Even if the pictures are black and white, the scanned
document will contain better looking results.
Select Form if you are scanning a form to fill in later using the
Pagis Editor. The lines of the form will be preserved.
Select Photograph if you are scanning one or more photographs
or color pictures, or if you want to scan a color document without
segmentation.
Select Business Card if you are scanning one or more business
cards.
The Scan Tool provides one Custom page type. Any Properties
that you specify are maintained whenever you select Custom.
4. Click the Properties button to fine-tune settings for the
document you are about to scan.
For example, you might want to adjust scanner brightness, color
depth, or resolution, or turn on or off some of the page refinement
settings. Additionally, you might want to specify a file name and
location for the scanned document. Finally, you might want to
add keyword search properties for the document.
Refer to a previous section, "Changing default properties for
scanned documents," for complete information.
5. Specify Save and Close options on the Scan Tool.
Click the Auto Save checkbox off to display a standard Save As
dialog box when scanning is complete. Otherwise the document is
saved automatically to the default file name and location in Auto
Save properties.
Click the Close when done option off if you want the Scan Tool
to remain open after you finish scanning a document.
