3.1.2 Configure Management LAN Interface

The management LAN interface is initially disabled.
To use the following functions, configure the management LAN interface.
To configure the management LAN interface, carry out the following procedure.
xg login: admin
Password: ********
xg> enable
xg# configure terminal
xg(config)# management-lan ip A.B.C.D/M
[ default-gw A.B.C.D]
xg(config)# management-lan dns-server A.B.C.D
xg(config)# management-lan domain DOMAIN-NAME
xg(config)# remote-host A.B.C.D HOST-NAME
xg(config)# exit

3.1.3 Telnet Connection via Management LAN Interface (Optional)

The "Telnet server function" via management LAN interface is initially disabled.
To set up Telnet connection, carry out the following procedure in the administrator EXEC mode.
xg# configure terminal
xg(config)# telnet-server
xg(config)# terminal timeout vty <0-60>
xg(config)# exit

3.1.4 SNMP Configuration (Optional)

To operate in conjunction with an SNMP manager, the SNMP agent must be configured.
To configure the SNMP agent, carry out the following procedures in the administrator EXEC mode.
xg# configure terminal
xg(config)# hostname HOST-NAME
xg(config)# snmp-server location
SYSTEM-LOCATION
xg(config)# snmp-server contact
SYSTEM-CONTACT
xg(config)# snmp-server access host

Log in to the XG1200 from the serial terminal.The default
user name is "admin". The default password is "password."
Switch to administrator EXEC mode.
Switch to global configuration mode.
Set the IP address, subnet, and default gateway of the
management LAN interface.
(Optional)
Set up DNS servers. Up to 4 DNS servers can be set up.
Priority is assigned to DNS servers in the order they are
defined. To change their order, delete them using no
command before doing so.
(Optional)
Set the name of the network domain.
(Optional)
Register the remote host name and IP address with the
associated table.
This allows you to specify a remote IP address using a
host name without relying on a DNS server.
Exit to administrator EXEC mode.
Switch to global configuration mode.
Enable Telnet connection,
(Optional)
Set a monitoring period (in minutes) during which the
Telnet connection remains idle.
Exit to administrator EXEC mode.
Switch to global configuration mode.
Set the system name (HOST-NAME), system's location
(SYSTEM-LOCATION), and contact
(SYSTEM-CONTACT).
Set the IP address (host name) from which the SNMP
manager can access the host and community name.
Set the IP address (host name) of the host that is notified
of SNMP traps and community name, if SNMP trap
notification is enabled.
Exit to administrator EXEC mode.
