6.4 Extracting of Maintenance Information

If an XG1200 fault has occurred, you may be asked to extract maintenance information to allow your XG1200 sales
representative to investigate it. This section provides procedures for extracting maintenance information.
Depending on the situations shown below, extract maintenance information through the appropriate procedures.
System failure/Subsystem failure
If an unrecoverable error has occurred in the XG1200's system or subsystem, the system automatically saves
maintenance information and then restarts to quickly restart the system operations.
System loop
If the system has entered in a loop and CLI command entry disabled, use the "dump" switch on the front panel to save
maintenance information and restart the system.
XG1200 malfunctions
If a function configured for the XG1200 malfunctions, save maintenance information using the Extract Information
command.
6.4.1 Procedure for Extracting Maintenance Information when a System
Failure/Subsystem Failure Occurred
This section describes the procedures for extracting maintenance information when a system failure/subsystem failure has
occurred.
A system failure/subsystem failure has occurred.
If an unrecoverable error, including a system failure/subsystem failure, has occurred in the XG1200, the system
automatically saves maintenance information and then restarts to quickly restart the system operations.
If a system failure has occurred, a system dump is generated; if a subsystem failure has occurred, a process dump is
generated.
Reporting system logs on dump outputs/Reporting traps
After the system retarts, a system log is issued to indicate that a system failure caused the generation of dump.
Configuring an SNMP trap in advance causes a trap indicating occurrence of a system failure to be reported to a
system administrator.
