5.9.6 spanning-tree max-age

Function
The maximum age (max-age) of Spanning Tree is a valid time of the received BPDUs. When BPDUs are not received within
the valid time, the topology of Spanning Tree will be recaluculated, and the switch will send BPDUs with the switch itself as the
root switch.
Use the no form to return to the default setup.

Command syntax
spanning-tree max-age <6-40>
no spanning-tree max-age
Parameter
max-age <6-40>
Sets the valid time of the received BPDUs. When the switch does not receive BPDUs within this period, the topology of
Spanning Tree will be recalculated. Values can be set in the range of 6 to 40 seconds.

Explanation
An unsettable value has been specified. The settable range of max-age differs depending on the values of
"hello-time" and "forward-time".
Solution
Set a value, which satisfies the conditions in Notes, for "max-age".
Note
The settable range of maximum age differs depending on the value set with the "spanning tree hello-time" command
and the "spanning tree forward-time" command, and also mut satisfy the following conditions:

Example
Set the maximum age (max-age) of Spanning Tree to 30 seconds.
xg(config)# spanning-tree max-age 30
(forward_time -1) ≥ max_age
(hello_time + 1)
