3.1.5 Configure users and network security
Starting with Rosemount 3810 Series Firmware v1.60, the meter must authenticate any
user making a connection to the meter using MeterLink. MeterLink will prompt for a
username and password that will be authenticated by the meter before a successful
connection is established. While the default password is unique to each meter, it is highly
recommended to be changed at meter startup. For added security, the default username,
administrator, can be changed as well. See Manage Users in the Rosemount 3810 Series
Liquid Ultrasonic Flow Meters: Operations Manual (00809-0200-3810) for more details on
setting up users, user types and passwords using the Meter → Manage Users dialog box in
MeterLink.

security recommendations found in Cybersecurity and network communications in the

Phase A and Phase B output (based on flow direction):
• Reverse flow - output only reports flow in the reverse direction. For frequency
outputs, Phase B of the output is 90 degrees out of phase with Phase A.
• Forward flow - output only reports flow in the forward direction. For frequency
outputs, Phase B of the output is 90 degrees out of phase with Phase A.
• Absolute - output reports flow in both directions. For frequency outputs, Phase B
of the output is 90 degrees out of phase with Phase A.
• Bidirectional - output reports flow on Phase A only in the forward direction and
on Phase B only in the reverse direction.
Maximum frequency for the frequency outputs:
• 1000 Hz
• 5000 Hz
