3.6.6 xDSL connection

Depending on the specific model, the Teldat M2 router family may include an xDSL interface for establishing a WAN
connection. This interface features one RJ45 port labeled as "xDSL" for connecting to the network.
Be sure to carefully observe the labeling to avoid confusion with other types of ports:

Note
We recommend using a minimum 26 AWG cable for optimal performance. This cable may be included
with the router or mentioned in the safety instructions accompanying the device.
The firmware for the xDSL interface's internal card can be upgraded if needed, such as to add new features or fix
bugs.
Upgrading is only necessary in specific situations, and the necessary upgrade files will be provided.
3.6.6.1 Upgrading the firmware to the router
To upgrade the firmware, the upgrade file (upg00025.upf) must be loaded into a temporary buffer on the host router
through an FTP connection, rather than using the quote site savebuffer FTP command.
This is because the file may be too large to fit in the host router's available flash memory.
After the upgrade process is complete, the temporary buffer should be released (more information in the next sec-
tion).
3.6.6.2 Transferring the firmware to the card
To initiate the transfer, the upgrade-fw start monitoring command is used:
Note
It is important to avoid switching off or rebooting the device during the upgrade process, as this can
cause memory corruption and prevent a port from booting.
