Removing the Cover

Before you can work inside your computer, you must remove parts of the
cover:
To install expansion cards and other internal components, remove
one side panel (the right panel, as seen from the back of the
system).
To install drives you access from outside the computer, remove
both side panels.
To install hard drives, remove the side panels and the front bezel.
You do not need to remove the top of the cover to install or remove
components from the computer.
Because the components inside your computer are extremely sensitive to
static electricity, be sure to follow the precautions for avoiding static
electricity damage at the beginning of this chapter.
Note:
Only qualified personnel
should open the system for
maintenance. You need a
grounding wrist strap and a
Phillips screwdriver to
remove the computer's
cover.
Warning!
To avoid exposure to
dangerous electrical
voltages and moving parts,
turn off your computer and
unplug the power cord
before removing the system
cover.
