The diskette drive is not recognized by the system

The diskette controller
may be disabled.
The diskette drive may
be configured

cables are not installed
correctly.
The controller cable is
not installed correctly.
The diskette drive will not read, write, or format
Probable Cause
The diskette is not IBM
formatted.
The diskette is
corrupted.
The diskette is write
protected.
Solution
Restart your computer and then press F
enter the Setup program. Make sure that the
diskette controller is enabled in Setup.

Setup.
Open the system and check that the cables
are connected correctly to the diskette drive.
Open the system and check that the diskette
cable is connected to the system board
diskette connector.
Solution
Make certain the diskette you are trying to
format is IBM-compatible. If it is, try
reformatting it. If the diskette is not IBM-
compatible, use a different diskette.
Run Check Disk on the diskette. If errors are
detected and corrected, try accessing the
diskette again.
Make certain the write-protection window on
the upper-right corner of the diskette is
closed (unprotected).
