Safety Guidelines
While troubleshooting your computer, follow these safety guidelines:
•
Never remove the system's cover while the system is turned on.
•
Do not attempt to open the monitor; it is extremely dangerous.
Even if the monitor's power is disconnected, energy stored in the
monitor's components can be dangerous.
•
Make certain you are properly grounded before opening the
system chassis. See the static electricity precautions on page 2 for
more information on preventing electrostatic damage to the
system.
Basic Troubleshooting
These basic tips can help you as you troubleshoot your system:
•
Make sure the power cord is connected to the computer and an AC
outlet.
•
Make sure the AC outlet is supplying power.
•
If you use a power strip, make sure it is switched on and the circuit
breaker is set.
•
Make sure the voltage selection switch on the back of the system is
set to the proper voltage.
•
If a peripheral, such as the keyboard, mouse, hard drive, or printer
does not appear to work, ensure that all connections are secure.
•
If an error message is displayed on the screen, write it down, word
for word. You may be asked about it when calling Technical
Support.
