The diskette is
corrupted.
The cable to the drive is
not connected properly.

Hard Drive Problems

An IDE drive is not recognized by the system
Probable Cause
The primary IDE device
may be configured
incorrectly.
The drive may not be
configured properly.
The IDE cable is not
installed correctly.
Solution
Remove the diskette from the drive. If the
light remains on, try restarting the system.
Open the system and check the cable
between the diskette drive and its controller.
Make certain the pins are not bent or
misaligned.
Solution
Restart your computer and then press F
enter the Setup program. Make sure the
primary IDE connector is enabled in Setup.
Consult the hard drive's documentation for
instructions on how to configure the drive.
Open the system and check that the IDE
cable is connected to the system board IDE
connector.
