2.4 System diagram

Figures CIM solution for Hydro Multi-B and Solution with CIM 300 and 500 for CU 352 and CIU for Hydro Multi-E (CU 351) give an overview of
how to connect the module or unit to the Grundfos booster system that is to be connected to a BACnet network.
The Hydro MPC, Control MPC and Multi-E boosters are available in two variants. They have different CIM/CIU connections as described
below.
CIM solution
A Communication Interface Module (CIM) is an add-on communication module that you fit into the following products:
• CU 352 MPC
• CU 323 Multi-B
• Multi-E based on MGE motors model H or later
• TPED twin-head pump in multipump mode
• MAGNA3-D twin-head pump in multipump mode.
In this setup, the booster system supplies power to the module. See figure CIM solution for Hydro Multi-B below.
CIU solution
A Communication Interface Unit (CUI) is a box incorporating a power supply module and a CIM 300 BACnet module. It can either be mounted
on a DIN rail or on a wall. See figure Solution with CIM 300 and 500 for CU 352 and CIU for Hydro Multi-E (CU 351).
The unit is used with the following products:
• CU 351 MPC
• Multi-E based on MGE motors before model H.
The Hydro MPC with the CU 351 or the Hydro Multi-E controls and monitors a number of pumps (2 to 6), all connected with RS-485 cables. If
fitted with an extra GENIbus module, the Hydro MPC with the CU 351 can be connected to the unit via an RS-485 cable.
The CU 351 must have an external GENIbus module installed in order to communicate with the CIU BACnet unit.
