Chapter 7: BIOS
BootUp Num Lock
This option is used to select the status of the Number Lock function on your
keyboard on bootup. The settings are On and Off.
PS/2 Mouse Support
This option specifies whether a PS/2 Mouse will be supported. Settings are
Enabled and Disabled.
Typematic Rate
Set this option to select the rate at which the computer repeats a key that
is held down. Settings are Fast and Slow.
Fast: This sets the rate the
computer repeats a key to over 20 times per second. Under normal opera-
tions, this setting should not be changed. Slow: This sets the rate the
computer repeats a key to under 8 times per second.
System Keyboard
This option is to let the system know if a keyboard is Present or Absent.
Primary Display
This option specifies the type of monitor display you have installed on the
system. The settings are Absent, VGA/EGA, Color 40 x 25, Color 80 x 25
and monochrome.
Boot to OS/2
This option can be used to boot the system to an OS/2 operating system.
The settings are No and Yes.
Wait for F1 if Error
This settings for this option are Enabled and Disabled.
Disabled: This
prevents the AMIBIOS from waiting on an error for user intervention. This
setting should be used if there is a known reason for a BIOS error to
appear. An example would be if a system administrator must remote boot a
system that system does not have a keyboard currently attached. If this
setting is set, the system will continue to bootup to the operating system. If
'F1' is enabled, the system will wait until the BIOS setup is entered. En-
abled: This option makes the system BIOS to wait on any error. If an error
