4. Shooting: Proxy Data
To record proxy data separately from
recording original data
You can record proxy data to an SD card
independent of the SxS memory cards by
assigning the XAVC Proxy Rec Start function to
an assignable switch.

ˎ If simultaneous proxy recording is started while
ˎ
recording proxy data independently is in progress, the
proxy data recording continues without interruption.
Subsequently, when simultaneous recording is
stopped, proxy data recording also stops.
ˎ Proxy recording cannot be stopped independently
ˎ
during simultaneous proxy recording.
Proxy recording limitations
Proxy recording is not supported in the
following cases.
ˎ During streaming (Maintenance >Streaming
ˎ
>Setting in the setup menu set to On)
ˎ During Interval Rec (Operation >Rec
ˎ
Function >Interval Rec in the setup menu set
to On)
ˎ During Picture Cache Rec (Operation >Rec
ˎ
Function >Picture Cache Rec in the setup
menu is set to On)
ˎ During Slow & Quick Motion (Operation
ˎ
>Rec Function >Slow & Quick Motion in the
setup menu set to On)
ˎ When network client mode is enabled
ˎ
(Maintenance >Network Client Mode
>Setting in the setup menu is set to On) and
Maintenance >Network Client Mode >Preset
1, Preset 2, or Preset 3 >NCM with Proxy in
the setup menu is set to Disable.
ˎ When Operation >Format >Frequency in the
ˎ
setup menu is set to 23.98P and Operation
>XAVC Proxy Rec Mode >Size is set to HD
Auto(9Mbps) or HD Auto(6Mbps)
ˎ When power is being supplied to the
ˎ
external device connector (Operation >USB
in the setup menu).
ˎ The maximum number of clips that can be
ˎ
recorded is 600.
About the recorded files
ˎ The file name extension is ".mp4".
ˎ
ˎ The timecode is also recorded
ˎ
simultaneously.
ˎ A still image of the first frame is also
ˎ
recorded simultaneously.
ˎ Location information and a Log file are
ˎ
recorded simultaneously if the GPS function
is enabled. The Log file is saved in "Root/
PRIVATE/SONY/GPS."
Canceling proxy data recording
Set Operation >XAVC Proxy Rec Mode >Setting
in the setup menu to Off.
When there is insufficient remaining
capacity on an SD card
A warning is displayed to indicate that there is
insufficient free space.
Changing proxy recording settings
Select Operation >XAVC Proxy Rec Mode >Size
and Audio Channel in the setup menu to
change the settings for the size of the proxy
recording format and the audio channel for
proxy recording, respectively.

When Operation >XAVC Proxy Rec Mode >Size in
the setup menu is set to HD Auto(9Mbps) or HD
Auto(6Mbps) and the system frequency is set to 29.97 or
25, the proxy data picture size will be set to 1920×1080
even if the picture size of the recording video format is
set to 1280×720.
Checking proxy recording settings
Select Operation >XAVC Proxy Rec Mode
>Frame Rate and Bit Rate in the setup menu to
view the settings for the video frame rate and
video bit rate, respectively.
