7. Start-up
• Insert the centering screws into the openings
provided at the rear of the condenser (38.1).
• Turn the centering screws until the dark ring
(phase ring in the objective) is congruent with
the slightly narrower bright ring (light ring in
condenser) (37 c).
• Repeat the process for all other light rings.
• Remove the centering keys after the
centering procedure.

7.4 Adjustment of Condenser Prisms

If the equipment was delivered together, the
condenser prisms will already have been
adjusted at the factory, but it advisable to check
the adjustment from time to time, especially
after transport.
• Pull out the objective prism slide (39.1) fully or
partway.
• Swivel in a suitable objective and focus on
the specimen.
• Swing in the condenser top
The condenser top is swung out for objective
magnifications < 10x.
• Set the Köhler illumination (→ p. 31).
• In place of an eyepiece, insert the focusing
telescope (Fig. 36) into the observation tube.
