Notes on adjusting the lights when driving
abroad
Vehicles with static LED headlamps: it is not
necessary to convert the headlamps. The legal
requirements are also met in countries in which
traffic drives on the other side of the road.
Vehicles with Intelligent Light System: before
crossing the border into countries in which traf‐
fic drives on the other side of the road, it is nec‐
essary to set the headlamps to symmetrical low
beam (
page 113).

Once the headlamps have been converted:
Oncoming traffic will not be dazzled.

The edge of the road will not be illuminated
R
as far or as high.
The "motorway mode" and "enhanced fog
R
light" functions will not be available.
The headlamps must be reset to asymmetrical
low beam when you return from abroad.
Information about lighting systems and your
responsibility
The various lighting systems of the vehicle are
only aids. The driver of the vehicle is responsible
for correct vehicle illumination in accordance
with the prevailing light and visibility conditions,
legal requirements and traffic situation.
