Attaching a roof luggage rack
& WARNING Risk of accident due to
exceeding the maximum roof load
The vehicle centre of gravity and the usual
driving characteristics as well as the steering
and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the
driving characteristics, as well as steering
and braking, will be greatly impaired.
Never exceed the maximum roof load

and adjust your driving style.
& WARNING Risk of injury if unsuitable
climbing aids are used
If you use openings in the vehicle's body
work or detachable parts as steps, you could:
slip and/or fall.

damage the vehicle and thus slip and fall.

Always use anti-slip, stable climbing

aids, e.g. a suitable ladder.

and bumpers if used as a step
The wheel arch flares and bumpers can be
damaged or become detached from the vehi‐
cle if you use them as a step.

approved roof racks
The vehicle could be damaged by roof racks
that have not been tested and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
Only use roof racks approved for

Depending on the vehicle equipment,

ensure that the sliding sunroof can be
fully raised when the roof rack is fitted.
Position the load on the roof rack in

such a way that the vehicle will not sus‐
tain damage even when it is in motion.
