General Drive Errors

Error Recovery

General drive errors usually result from a miscommunication between a
module's processor and a drive processor or a mechanical malfunction within
the Library.
Both platform problems and general drive errors display an error message and
a Fault System Code (FSC) on the control panel. Use the FSC to report errors
to your Technical Support representative, or in some cases, to determine a
recovery procedure.
A simple error recovery procedure appears at the bottom line of the control
panel display. You can clear some errors by pressing the Enter button on the
control panel or by cycling the power to the Library.
Figure 6-1 outlines the recommended steps for error recovery. You should
follow this chart in all cases.
Error Recovery Procedures (ERPs) are listed in detail in Table 6-1; FSCs are
listed in Table 6-2. An ERP is also listed for each FSC.
