6 Preparing the product for use

6.1 Assembly

6.1.1 Attaching the seating unit

CAUTION
Exposed pinch points
Crushing, pinching due to incorrect handling
► Only grip the specified components during assembly.
CAUTION
Failure to secure the seating unit when attaching it
User falling, tipping or falling out of the seating unit due to it not being secured or parts coming loose
► Before attaching and removing the seating unit and before the user gets in or out, always engage the wheel
lock on the outdoor mobility base/seating shell mobility base. Check the braking function.
► When attaching the seating unit, always make sure it engages audibly in the outdoor mobility base/seating
shell mobility base.
► Secure the seating unit using the seat lock.
a) Setting the direction the seating unit faces
INFORMATION
The following section describes how to attach the Kimba seating unit on a Kimba outdoor mobility base. The
Kimba seating unit is attached the same way on the Kimba Cross and Kimba Inline outdoor mobility bases and on
the Kimba Home mobility base.
The seating unit may face in one of two directions when mounted on the outdoor mobility base:
In the direction of travel (see fig. 2, example for Kimba outdoor mobility base)
Opposite to the direction of travel (see fig. 3, example for Kimba outdoor mobility base)

b) Attaching the seating unit
1) Gently press the lateral supports on the sides of the back support slightly inwards (see fig. 10) to avoid dam­
aging the material.
2) First place the seating unit on the rear tube of the seat adapter at an angle of approx. 45° (see fig. 4).
3) Press the front edge of the seat onto the outdoor mobility base until the retaining claw audibly snaps on to the
front tube of the seat adapter (see fig. 5).
4) Slide the seat lock to the left to engage it (see fig. 6, item 1). The green symbol shows that the seating unit is
locked (see fig. 6, item 2).
5) Check that the seating unit and the outdoor mobility base are securely connected by pulling back the back sup­
port.
→ The seating unit should remain firmly attached to the outdoor mobility base.
