2.1 Explanation of Symbols

2.2 General Safety Instructions

CAUTION
Explosion hazard. Do not throw the battery into fire. Never expose it to heat. Avoid direct sunlight.
CAUTION
Risk of injury in case of continued use after malfunctions. Never use the E-MAG Active knee joint
if there is a malfunction. Please contact your specialist workshop immediately.
CAUTION
Risk of injury in case of use after damage. Do not use the E-MAG Active knee joint if there is visible
damage to the cables or system components. Please contact your specialist workshop immediately.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to electromagnetic interferences. If the patient is near to high-tension power lines,
transmitters, transformers or other sources of strong electromagnetic radiation (such as security sy-
stems for goods in department stores) this might cause malfunctions. This can cause the patient to fall.
Avoid proximity to strong magnetic and electric interference sources (e.g. transformer stations, high-
powered radio or television transmitters).
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to unauthorized control of the service switches. Never activate or handle the A and
T small service switches. Their use is reserved exclusively for the qualified personnel at your workshop.
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to use of grease (as well as other lubricants). This could contaminate the joint
and jam the lock. The bearing washers and joint locking mechanism should never be lubricated.
NOTICE
Risk of damage due to water/moisture. Water will destroy the E-MAG Active! Do not wear your
orthosis while taking a shower, bathing, or swimming, and do not stay in environments with high hu-
midity with your orthosis.
NOTICE
Risk of damage due to improper environmental conditions. Solid particles and fluid in the joint,
lock or electronics of the E-MAG Active may lead to malfunctioning. Do not expose the components to
excessive smoke or dust and mechanical vibrations or shocks.
