Installing the piston

Shift the joint of the piston rings by 120
-
Place the special tool on the oiled piston. Compress the pis-
ton rings using the special tool.

Piston ring mounting tool (60029015000)
✓ The piston rings are pushed together all the way.

Position the piston on the cylinder using the special tool.

Push the piston carefully into the cylinder from above.

The piston rings should not catch or they will be dam­
aged.

Apply a thin layer of sealing compound in area@).

Place the cylinder base gasket on.

Ensure that the dowel pins are seated properly.

Cover the engine case opening with a cloth. Thread the tim­
ing chain through the chain shaft. Mount the piston pin.
