7.12 NUPC Pull Cord Module

NUPC-HE Active Pull Cord
Installation Sheet
Description
The NUPC-HE Pull Cord module is an active room bus
module that, when properly installed, is an IP44 rated
splash-proof device that is suitable for use in rooms with
showers, baths, and in similar wet areas.
NUPC-HE Active Pull Cord Front and Back
The NUPC Pull Cord module includes a special backplate
with two urethane foam gaskets which makes the NUPC
splash water resistant to the IP44 standard. The backplate
must be mounted on a flat wall surface using the four
corner holes in the backplate.
The module is fixed on to the backplate by two latches and
two screws through the cover plate. The screws are
supplied with the module.
Note: Only mount the NUPC using the supplied IP44
backplate
The NUPC includes a two meter pull cord with two plastic
balls. The top ball acts as a safety break that splits in half
when the cord is pulled with excessive force.

Room Modules
Installation
Note:
Before beginning the installation, ensure all the
necessary cables are available and are properly terminated.
RJ-45 connectors should be terminated in accordance with
the T568B or EIA 568B connection standard.
To avoid physical damage to the module and to reduce the
risk of exposure to excessive spray water in shower rooms,
bathrooms, and similar wet areas, install the module in the
area with the pull cord module mounted above the height of
any water source.
Mount the module in a location where the pull cord hangs
free of any obstructions, is clearly seen, and is within easy
reach so that users and staff can pull to activate a call in an
emergency or when assistance is needed. Mount the module
at least 230cm (90.5in.) above the floor and at least 20cm
(8in.) above the shower head. Where possible, the pull cord
should extend down to approximately 20cm (8in.) above the
floor.
The following illustration shows an example of a suitable
location for the pull cord module.

Positioning the Backbox for the Pull Cord Module
The pull cord backplate has a foam gasket on both sides to
prevent water entering the module. With the module
mounted correctly on the backplate, the module conforms to
the IP44 ingress protection rating.
Note: Do not mount the backbox over grout lines. Correct
installation is shown in the following graphic.
