2.
Unbind the media path motor and home the MPT clutch.
3.
Home the drum.
4.
If the print head is not in the restrained or print position:
a.
The heaters in the printhead and wiper assembly are activated, as a
precaution, to melt the ink which may have cooled and solidified, thus
causing possible wiper damage. 10 minutes pass while the wiper assembly
heats up.
5.
Home the x-axis motor.
6.
Move the x-axis motor to the position where the print head can tilt without
interference.
7.
Move the wiper down to the bottom of travel. This will also engage the head tilt
cam, if the wiper is coming from the restrained position. (The bottom of travel is
also called the wiper home position.)
8.
Was the print head restrained on power down?
a.
Move the wiper back up into the restrained position, without bringing the
print head to the print position first. The printer does not want the print head
to come forward until the thermals are warm if at all possible. This keeps
ink drool from contacting the drum.
9.
Home the process motor, drum maintenance, and transfix gears. If the print head
was restrained on last power down it will still be restrained and will not come
forward to the print position. If the print head was not restrained on last power
down the print head will come forward to the print position.
10.
Do error recovery and retries if necessary (ie, if the process motor stalls or device
faults).
11.
Start the drum slew.
12.
Rehome the x-axis motor.
13.
Park and restrain the print head if it is not already parked and restrained.
14.
Oil the drum four times.
If the printer was not shutdown by the power switch the last time it
was turned off or it was shutdown with ink on the drum:
1.
As soon as the printer is warm move the media path motor moves the wiper to the
bottom of travel and the process motor moves the print head to the print position.
2.
Run a chase page to clean off and ink from the drum.
If print head, ink reservoirs, or jetstack temperature are below purge
threshold, the printer performs a head clean cycle.
1.
Wait for the ink in the print head to be molten and for the print head temperatures
to be correct.
2.
Move the wiper to the bottom of travel and tilt the print head to the print position
so that ink levels can be checked and ink melted if there is not enough ink to
perform the purge.
