The Ex marking for the SP190-H/DIL-EX2 T* is: II 3G Ex ec mc IIC T2/T3/T4 Gc You will find a copy of the declaration of conformity in the appendix of this instruction manual.
Introduction Dilution probes are used wherever dilution of the sample gas is necessary for the measurement of one or several sample gas components. Examples are the measurement of toxic gas components, mois- ture measurements or adjustment of the sample gas concentration to the analyser measuring range. The M&C gas sample probe type SP190-H/DIL-EX2 T* is based on the SP180-H-EX2 T* probe, and is used for continuous gas sampling and dilution.
Serial numbers The product label with the serial number is located inside the terminal box of the sample probe. Please refer to this serial number if you have any questions about your sample probe or if you need to order spare parts or consumables. Power supply The probe can be operated on alternating current in the range of 110 V AC to 240 V AC.

Gas Sample Probe Series SP ® SP190-H/DIL-EX2 SP190-H/DIL-EX2 SP190-H/DIL-EX2 T2 X T3 X T4 X Errors caused by over or under No errors as long as the differential pressure ΔP at the pressure dilution unit is >0.5 bar g, and test gas is given to the probe under process pressure conditions while there are no pressure fluctuations present.
Applications The electrically heated M&C dilution probe is applicable for such processes, where the measuring procedure or the handling of the process gas requires the dilution of the sample respectively the component to be measured. Typical applications are the use with toxic gases, the moisture measurement and the emission measurement in flue gases.
Dilution principle The functional principle of the dilution unit is based on ultrasonic flow through a critical orifice (see Fig. 1). The flow through the orifice is constant when the differential pressure via the orifice is higher than 500 mbar. For the atmospheric inlet pressure (P = 1020 mbar), this means a pressure at the orifice outlet (P ) of less than 520 mbar absolute.
Description The sample probes are designed for easy installation, reliable operation and trouble-free maintenance. Advantages are: Gas sampling with dust-laden processes; • low volume, fast response time; • filter elements can be changed without tools and without disconnecting the sample line; •...
Probe design The diluted sample gas outlet at the probe is designed for a 8 mm (DN 6/8) tube. The optional stainless steel sampling tube of one meter length (Part No.: 02S9200) can be connected to the G 3/4” thread of the mounting flange. The maximum operating temperature of the stainless steel sampling tube is 600 °C [1112 °F].
Receiving the sample probe The gas sample dilution probe is usually delivered in two packaging units: • The gas sample dilution probe with the required screws, nuts and flange sealing. • Sample tube with gasket. Please remove the gas sample dilution probe carefully from the packaging. Check the scope of the delivery specified on the delivery note.
The following existing operational parameters need to be checked prior to installing the sample probe: weatherproof mounting position _____provided _____needs to be installed Under/over pressure situation mbar Process temperature °C, Min. °C, Max. Dust loading g/m³ Dust composition - grain size µm Gas composition corrosive...
M&C SP190-H/DIL-EX2 T* probes are designed for stationary use. The proper selection of the right sample probe for the application and the correct installation garantees a long service life and minimum maintenance work. The ideal position for mounting the sample probe is horizontally with a tilt angle of 10 degrees towards the process.
15.1 Connecting the heated sample line To connect the sample line, a threaded tube connector with Ø 8 x 1 mm is available – other • diameters available on request. Insert the tube connection piece into the bolted pipe joint and connect them. •...
15.3 Connecting the test gas line To connect the test gas line, a threaded tube connector with Ø 6 x 1 mm (DN4/6) is available • (see Figure 3 and Figure 4) If using a PTFE tube as sample line, a metal tubing sleeve for pneumatic fittings needs to be •...
Electrical Connection Wrong supply voltage can destroy the device! When connecting the equipment, make sure that the supply voltage is identical with the Warning information provided on the model type plate. Setting up of electrical power installations must be conform to the requirements of IEC 364 (DIN VDE 0100) ‘Regulations on the Installation of Power Circuits with Nominal Voltages below 1000V’, and must be in compliance with all relevant regulations and...
Starting up Do not start-up the sample gas probe while potentially explosive atmosphere is present. Warning The process and the environment of the probe needs to be explosion-free (explosion-free zone) during start-up. A zone is decleared as explosion-free zone, if it is free of explosive atmosphere.
The total heating time is about 2 hours. After about 1 hour, the lower parameter value ( 30°C [54 °F] below set value) is exceeded. Note Set the precision pressure reducer to the pressure specified on the enclosed injector data sheet •...
17.1 Calibration A calibration of the downstream analyser system or checking the dilution factor always needs to be carried out under operating conditions. An appropriate test gas can enter the sample dilution probe via the test gas valve. The test gas pressure needs to be higher than 0.7 bar, because the pressure control valve has an opening pressure of 0.7 bar.

Do not carry out any maintenance work at the sample gas probe while potentially explosive atmosphere is present. The process and the environment of the probe needs to be explosion-free (explosion-free zone) during maintenance. A zone is declared as explosion-free zone, if it is free of explosive atmosphere.
Figure 8 Change filter element To start the maintenance work, please follow these steps: SP190-H/DIL-EX2 T* with weather protection cover: Open the two clamps and remove protection • cover from the sample dilution probe. Loosen filter lid by turning handle to the left.
To assemble the sample probe, please insert the filter lid with the new filter element back into • the probe. To tighten the filter lid, put the filter lid clamp against the studs and turn the handle to the right. Decommisioning Before decommissioning the gas sample dilution probe by turning off the heating, the probe needs to be flushed with inert gas or air in order to avoid condensation of aggressive components of the process gas. Proper Disposal of the Device At the end of the life cycle of our products, it is important to take care of the appropriate disposal of obsolete electrical and non-electrical devices.
Spare parts and consumables The replacement interval for spare parts and consumables depends on the specific operating condition of the probe. The quantities recommended in the following table are based on experience. Your replacement intervals will be based on your operating conditions.
