Remove the media bay module

Remove the media bay module
To remove the media bay module (MBM):

Check for a recent backup of the BCM50 programming. If there is no recent backup, use
Element Manager to back up of all the system data. For information about backing up the
system data, refer to BCM50 Administration Guide (N0xxxxxxx).

Use Element Manager to disable the MBM you are removing. Refer to BCM50 Administration
Guide (N0xxxxxxx) for more information on disabling a MBM.

If the BCM50 Expansion Unit is wall-mounted, it must be removed from the wallmount
bracket before removing the MBM. Refer
Unit" on page 197

Disconnect all of the telephone line and extension cables from the MBM.
If there is more than one cable, mark the cables to identify the port from which they were
removed.

Rotate the power supply retention clip to free the power supply cord.

Remove the power supply cord from the BCM50 Expansion Unit.

Attach one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal
surface.

Pull the ejector lever out with your index finger. Then grasp the ejector lever with your thumb
and index finger and pull outward to disengage the MBM (see
MBM by hand.

Grasp the top and bottom edges of the MBM. Remove the MBM from the BCM50 Expansion
Unit. Place the MBM in a flat, clean, static-free surface.
Warning: Protect the hardware components against damage from electrostatic
discharge. Always wear a ground wrist strap before you handle components. Always
place the components in a static-free container.
Replace a media bay module
for more information, then proceed to step 7.
