To Install a Capillary Column in the GC/MS Interface Using the
Self-Tightening Column Nut
This procedure is for the installation of a capillary column directly into the
analyzer using the Agilent recommended self-tightening column nut.
Materials needed
For the GCMS transfer line tip seals required for models with CI and
extraction ion sources see
• Column cutter, ceramic (5181-8836) or diamond (5183-4620)
• Flashlight
• Magnifying loupe
• Gloves, clean
• Self Tightening column nut for GC\MS interface (5190-5233)
• Ferrules, Vespel
• Septum (may be old, used inlet septum)
• Safety glasses
Always wear clean gloves while handling any parts that go inside the GC or the
CA UT IO N
analyzer chambers.
