Updating software

Before starting the software update, back up the
user data and protocols on a USB stick (see the
section 6.7.5).
i
The test values are installed standard on the
EPS 118 for Bosch and non-Bosch injectors. Update
the software at regular intervals "EPS 118". This
will ensure that the test values are always current.

When updating the software via a USB stick, the
file "eps118.zip" must be downloaded, saved on a
PC and opened (decompressed). The files contai-
ned must then be copied to the uppermost directo-
ry of a USB stick. The file "eps118.zip" is available
on the Internet site
http://epsdata.bosch-automotive.com/eps/EPS118/eps118.zip
EPS 118 has the link to the current software inte-
grated in the system. When updating the software
over the Internet (Option >> Update software (In-
ternet)), EPS 118 accesses this Internet site.

Before updating the software, ensure that EPS 118
has been switched on.
Procedure:
1. End the test.
2. If the EPS 118 has Internet access, select "Op-
tions >> Update software (Internet)" on the Start
screen. Otherwise, insert the USB stick with the
software into a USB port and select "Options >>
Update software (USB)" on the Start screen.
3. Follow the on screen instructions in order to com-
plete the process.
 This completes software update.

Entering the owners information

It is recommendable to enter the owner's personal
information. This information will be used in the gene-
rated reports and logs.
Procedure:
1. End the test.
2. In the start screen, select "Options >> Settings >>
User information".
3. Fill in all input boxes.
4. Save the settings, and exit with <Back>.

Backing up user data and protocols

Back up user data and protocols after the initial
commissioning, before software updates, and at

regular intervals.
Procedure:
1. End the test.
2. Connect USB stick to USB port. When using the
WLAN USB adapters, unplug the WLAN USB adap-
ter first.
3. On the Start screen, select "Options >> Settings >>
Backup/Restore".
4. Select "Backup".
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete
the process.
 The backup of the user data and protocols is
now complete.
6. Remove the USB stick and plug the WLAN USB
adapter back into the USB port.

By selecting "Restore" under "Options >> Settings
>> Backup/Restore" the user data and protocols on
the EPS 118 can be restored.

Bleeding the system

Procedure:
Bleed the system (see sec. 8.2.8).

After the ventilation, the test oil level on the oil
level indicator (Fig. 1, item 4) must be checked. If
the test oil level is below the mark on the oil level
indicator (Fig. 1, item 4), test oil must be refilled
(see Section 6.4) until the test oil level is back
above the mark on the oil level indicator (Fig. 1,
item 4).
