•
No limits need to be specified for original container height
Before starting to set up the test procedure, check that:
•
The MultiTest-x system is fitted with a loadcell with a capacity of 500
newtons or greater
•
Ideally a vented compression plate should be fitted to the loadcell. However
for the purpose of this tutorial any compression plate could be used, and, if
the diameter is not sufficient, a suitable coin could be rested upon the neck
of the container!
•
The crosshead is reasonably close to the bottom of its travel, this will save
time during the first stage of the test (see 6(iv) below). If necessary, set a
relatively high 'Jog Rate' (see [1], [3], [3], [4]), perhaps 250mm/min, then,
from the 'live screen', use the [Jog Dn] to drive the crosshead to a suitable
position.
•
The MultiTest-x system is in 'supervisor mode' (see, [1], [4], <8>) – this is
essential to develop any procedure.
1) Setting Initial Conditions
i)
Set the force units to 'N', and distance units to 'mm'
ii) Set the local overload to 500N ([1], [3], [1], [4] Local Overload).
iii) Make sure that 'sample break' is enabled ([1], [3], [1], [2] Sample Break); set to
5% drop from peak.
iv) Make sure that the 'touch control' feature is enabled. 'Touch load' (see, [1], [3],
[3], [7]) and 'Touch speed' (see, [1], [3], [3], [8]) must be set to 1N and
25mm/min respectively.
v) Specify that test will be a compression test, ( [1], [3], [3], <2>, Dir(ection) –
COMPRESSION)
vi) Specify that tolerance limits will be based on a percentage difference from the
target ([1], [4], <2>, Limit Type-%TARG)
vii) Set the crosshead to 'park' at the end of the test( [1], [3], [3], <3>, Post Test –
HOME), in a defined position; set these parking parameters, see (viii) and (ix)
below.
viii) Set the crosshead to 'park' at 250mm/min at the end of the test ([1], [3], [3], [6]
Home Rate).
