1.4.4 System Safeguards

The TRBMIM-T includes the following system-safety components:
NVRAM protection– The NVRAM back-up battery provides power to
Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM), preserving crucial
system data and configuration settings when AC power is removed.
Thermal sensors – The two thermal sensors detect overheating in the
MMAC before the temperature becomes critical. The
master-management module in the MMAC responds by sending an
alarm trap to the Network Management Station monitoring the
network and by emitting an audible alarm.
Recovery from beaconing – Cabletron Systems ABRP is a software
component that works in conjunction with the TRBMIM/TRBMIM-T
operating code to provide an automated means of restoring the
TRBMIM/TRBMIM-T managed ring experiencing hard errors to
normal operating status.

1.4.5 Management Access

This section describes TRBMIM-T management resources.
Local Management (LM)
LM is the management agent in TRBMIM-T that provides multiple
applications for controlling and monitoring all functional aspects of the
TRBMIM-T and its host Token Ring network.
