B.3 FIBER OPTIC

A fiber optic cable is composed of a drawn fiber of pure glass, enveloped
within a another layer of glass called cladding. Around the fiber (core and
cladding) are wrapped multiple layers of reinforced matter that protect the
fiber. Multimode fiber cable consists of several fibers. Single-mode fiber
cable consists of a single fiber.
