Press the cutting unit drive switch to the E
position.

Apply lapping compound to the reel with a
long-handle brush.
DANGER
Contacting the cutting units when they
are moving could cause personal injury.
To avoid personal injury, be certain that
you are clear of the cutting units before
proceeding.
Important:
Never use a short-handled
brush.
4.
If you need to make an adjustment to the cutting
units while backlapping, perform the following
steps:
A.
Press the cutting unit drive switch to the
D
position.
ISENGAGE
B.
Shut off the engine and remove the key.
C.
Adjust to the cutting units.
D.
Repeat steps
5.
Repeat steps
3
for the other cutting units that
you want to backlap.
Finishing Backlapping
1.
Press the cutting unit control switch to the
D
position.
ISENGAGE
2.
Shut off the engine.
3.
Move the backlap lever to the F (mow) position
(Figure
91).
Important:
If you do not change backlap
lever to the F (mow) position after
backlapping, the cutting units will not
function properly.

Assemble the console cover to the control

5.
Wash all lapping compound off from the cutting
units.
6.
For a better cutting edge, run a file across the
front face of the bedknife after lapping.
Note:
that may have built up on the cutting edge.
