speed <rate>

Purpose

Use the speed <rate> command to configure the speed of an Ethernet interface. Use the no
form of this command to return to the default value.

displays the syntax descriptions for the speed <rate> command.
Syntax

100
This command should only be used if autonegotiation is disabled
(using the no autonegotiation command). Using autonegotiation
allows the Ethernet interface to automatically configure the speed
and duplex. If the speed is manually set to 10 or 100, the duplex
must be manually configured as duplex full or duplex half.

Default Values

No defined rate; autonegotiation is on by default.

Command Modes

The Ethernet Interface Configuration Mode is required for this command.

Usage Examples

The following example configures the Ethernet port for 100 Mb operation:
