4.3.7 Verify Gas Pressures
Press the Gases button to verify the cutting and marking gas pressures. The Actual
value and the Set Point value are displayed.
Gases will purge automatically when switching between oxidizing gas or oxygen
containing gas to combustible gas and vice versa. Gases will also purge
automatically after primary (wall) power is applied to the System.
If necessary, press the Manual Purge button to initiate a 30 second cutting gases
purge followed by 30 second marking gases purge. A countdown timer will display
the time remaining.

4.3.8 Make a Cut or Mark
Follow the sequence in Section 4.2 to make a cut or mark with the System.
4.3.9 Moving Pierces and Edge Starts
On very thick materials, an edge start or moving pierce may be required to prevent
damage to the torch consumables.
With a moving pierce, the torch should begin moving at approximately 5–10
inches/minute (127–254 mm/min) as soon as the arc transfers to the plate. After the
arc completely penetrates the plate, the torch should be positioned at the proper
cutting height and the travel speed should be increased to the correct level.
With an edge start – the edge start recommended icon (
of the screen – the torch should be positioned at the edge of the material prior to
starting the arc.
