AXLE BEARING REPLACEMENT

Remove Left Axle Bearing

NOTICE: Save all hardware for reinstallation.
WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Before rotating unit
forward, drain fuel from tank and fuel system.
See Draining Fuel System on page 7. Make sure
unit is secure and will not tip.
1.
Turn engine switch to OFF position and wait for all
moving parts to stop and for hot parts to cool.
2.
Disconnect spark plug wire from engine.
3.
Separate brush from frame and remove bottom cover.
See Separate Brush From Frame on page 7 and
Bottom Cover Removal on page 9.
4.
Position support under frame so wheels are off the
ground. Make sure unit is secure and will not tip.
5.
Remove snap clip from axle end and remove wheel.
See Figure 83.
6.
Remove axle key and sleeve bushing from axle.
7.
Remove hardware securing flange bearing and
bearing plate to frame and remove flange bearing.
NOTICE: Bearing plate is not a wear item and does not
have to be replaced unless damaged.

Install Left Axle Bearing

1.
Install bearing onto axle and align with bearing plate.
2.
Insert three hex bolts from inside frame through
bearing plate and flange bearing. Secure with three
locking nuts.
3.
Reinstall sleeve bushing and key onto axle.

4.
Reinstall bottom cover and secure with two tapping
screws and four hex bolts. Tighten hardware.
5.
Reinstall wheels and secure with snap clips.
6.
Rotate tractor to operating position, support
handlebars and reinstall brush attachment. See Install
Brush to Frame on page 8.
7.
Reconnect spark plug wire and fill fuel tank.

Remove Right Axle Bearing

NOTICE: Save all hardware for reinstallation.
WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Before rotating unit
forward, drain fuel from tank and fuel system.
See Draining Fuel System on page 7. Make sure
unit is secure and will not tip.
1.
Turn engine switch to OFF position and wait for all
moving parts to stop and for hot parts to cool.
2.
Disconnect spark plug wire from engine.
3.
Separate brush from frame and remove bottom cover.
See Separate Brush From Frame on page 7 and
Bottom Cover Removal on page 9.
4.
Position support under frame so wheels are off the
ground. Make sure unit is secure and will not tip.
5.
Remove snap clips from axle ends and remove
wheels.
6.
Remove E-ring from axle end.
7.
Hold differential gear in place and remove long axle

from differential.
