HEX SHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT

Remove Bearing

NOTICE: Save all hardware for reinstallation.
1. Remove hardware securing hex shaft bearing flange
to frame and remove bearing. See Figure 26.

Install Hex Shaft Bearing

1. Install bearing onto hex shaft.
2. Install flange over bearing and secure to frame with
three tapping screws.

BRUSH REPLACEMENT

Remove Brushes

NOTICE: Save all hardware for reinstallation.
1. Turn engine switch to OFF position and wait for all
moving parts to stop and for hot parts to cool.
2. Disconnect spark plug wire from engine.
3. Remove hardware securing brush shield to frame and
remove shield. See Figure 27.

4. Remove hardware securing brush core to center shaft.
NOTICE: There are two hardware sets on each side of
gearcase.
