1. Product Overview RM245 series is a 2U high flexible storage server chassis, and offers flexible solutions by choosing the customers’ modular parts integrated into the system to fulfill the enterprise demand. This chapter provides a high-level overview of the system features and available options.

1-8 System Packaging The original Chenbro packaging, where the server system is delivered, is designed to provide protection for L5 configuration and tested to meet ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) Test Procedure 1A (2008). The packaging is also designed to be reused for shipment after the system integration has been completed.

RM245 Series 2-1 Top Cover Installation Figure 12 Front top cover installation 1. Align the guide pins of this cover with the grooves on the chassis base, and slide it toward the front panel until locked into place. 2. Secure this cover with two screws as shown.

RM245 Series 2-3 Hot-swap HDD Assembly Maintenance Figure 16 3.5” Hot-swap HDD assembly installation 1. With the lever open, insert the HDD assembly into the drive bay until the end of the HDD cage. 2. Push down the lever to lock it into place.

RM245 Series Figure 24 2.5’’ hot-swap HDD assembly installation 1. With the lever open, insert the HDD assembly into the drive bay until the end of the HDD cage. 2. Push down the lever when it is secured into place.
RM245 Series Figure 26 2.5’’ HDD Installation (tool-less type) 1. Align the two guide pins of the HDD tray with the side dimples on the HDD as shown. 2. Push down the HDD until it is locked into place. NOTE: To ensure proper system air flow requirements, all front drive bays must be populated with a drive carrier.

Attach the plastic bracket with the HDD by engaging four pins with the dimples on one side of the HDD. 2. Align the two dimples of the other side of the HDD assembly with the two hooks on the HDD cage as shown.
RM245 Series 2-5 Slim ODD Installation & Removal Figure 29 RM24508 internal slim ODD installation 1. Secure the plastic bracket onto the slim ODD with two screws. 2. Insert the slim ODD assembly into the drive bay and push it until secured into place.

Insert the fan assembly into the chassis, and ensure the alignment of screw holes with the grooves on the chassis base matched on both sides. 2. Secure the fan assembly with thumb screws on both sides as shown.

RM245 Series 2-9 Full-height PCIe Card Installation Figure 44 Full-height back panel bracket installation 1. Replace the low-profile back panel bracket with full-height one. 2. Align the three screw holes of the riser card with T nails on the bracket, and slide the riser card into place as shown.

RM245 Series 3. Backplane Each drive tray includes two LED indicators for drive activity and drive status. Light pipes integrated into the drive tray direct light emitted from LEDs mounted next to each drive connector on the backplane to the drive tray faceplate, making them visible from the front of the system.
