Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
STEERING FRICTION
1. Install:
• Bolt 1
• Wing nut 2
• Friction controller 3
• Link rod 4
• Bolt 5
• Washers 6
• Nut 7
NOTE:
Tighten the nut so that the link rod can pivot,
and so that it is not too loose.
COMPILATION CHECK
STATIC CHECK
1. Check:
• Shift operation → Smooth shifting for
forward, neutral and reverse.
2. Check:
• Throttle operation → Smooth opera-
tion from fully close to fully open.
NOTE:
Shift in forward and then check the throttle
operation.
3. Check:
• Steering friction → Proper friction is
obtained. Proper friction is obtained
and that there is no interference with
the hull.
• Tiller handle tilt up/down → Cables
and wires are not stretched.
DYNAMIC CHECK
CAUTION:
The engine is going to be started for
checking. Therefore the engine should be
supplied cooling water.
Standard condition:
• Lock plate is installed to the engine stop
switch.
• Shift position is neutral.
• Insert the key into the main switch, its
position is "OFF."
• Throttle control is fully closed.
