CAUTION:
Sharp bends (less than 200mm [7.87 in] in
radius) of the cables will obstruct a smooth
movement of the cables and shorten cable life.
2. Installing the Remote Control Cables
CAUTION:
Cable connection should be started first from
the remote control box side. If started from the
engine side, cable adjustment will be impossi-
ble in some cases.
a. Loosen the five screws and remove the
back plate.

b. Screw in the cable joint (accessories).
See page 4-47. Tighten the locknuts.
Before installing the cable joints,
apply Yamaha Marine Grease to the
threaded holes in the cable joints.

NOTE: Screw the cable joint into the shaded area
(at least 8mm).
c. Insert the remote control outer cable for
shifting into the housing clamp so the
groove on its end fits over the ridge in the
clamp. Fit the cable joint over the pin, on
the end of the shift arm, and lock it with
the circlip.
d. Fit the grommet (accessory) in the clamp
groove.
e. Connect the remote control cable for the
throttle arm in the same manner.
