Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
4. Remove the throttle arm for the "push-to-
open" throttle and install the type for the
"pull-to-open" throttle, or vice versa, as
shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Be sure to install the proper cam roller
and bushing for the type of throttle being used.
5. Reinstall the two back plates with the screws.
6. Reinstall the wire cover.
Mounting
1. Mount the 703 remote control as shown in the
illustration.
2. Verify that there is sufficient clearance for the
full movement of the hand control and con-
trol mechanism.
3. Route the cable as straight as possible from
the control to the motor along the path previ-
ously chosen. There should be no bends of
less than a 4-inch radius. The cables should
be supported with cable hangers or, for long
runs, by running them through conduit.
Throttle Connection
Proper adjustment of the throttle cable(s) will
help ensure long component life. Proper adjust-
ment is achieved when the engine speed remains
at idle during shifting and will only increase when
the hand lever is moved beyond the shift detent.
1. Make sure the engine is running at the correct
idle speed. Adjust if necessary.
CAUTION:
The throttle cable should not be connected to
the engine when making idle adjustments. The
cable, if connected, may cause the engine idle
speed or idle ignition timing to be incorrect.
